One big problem with Java applets is the fonts. Because Java is platform independent, the number of fonts are limited.
The font list and all the available platform independent fonts. You select the Font Style by clicking the button and selecting the font. You can also enter a platform dependent font, by just entering its name in the font field. Note, it will probably only work on that specific platform.
The Font Size will be the size of the text in pixels. Note, that in Unix systems the maximum value of font size is 36 pixels. This means that values larger than that will be ignored. Also note that in some applets, for example Lasermessage, Pixelmessage and Semimorph, the speed of the applet may be reduced by having large font sizes. Fonts can be bold or italic and you specify this by checking the italic or bold check boxes. |
