Skeuomorph

Spot the odd man out: a Doric column, an Amtico floor, the tortoiseshell specs that once upon a time you could get free on the NHS, and the welcome screen of Microsoft Word. Yes, it's the last - and not just on the grounds that it's the only one with no style.

The others are all skeuomorphs. Do what, you say? A skeuomorph (derived from the Greek for vessel and morph, meaning form, but that's not important right now) is an artefact that uses one technology while attempting to mimic an earlier one.
