Using tools


    LiveMotion tools let you select, create, fill, edit, and view objects and backgrounds. The first time you start LiveMotion, the toolbox appears on the left side of the screen. When you select a tool, it remains selected until you choose another tool.

    LiveMotion includes these tools:

    The selection tool The selection tool

    Selects objects (see Selecting objects).

    The subgroup selection tool The subgroup selection tool

    Selects objects and groups within groups (see Selecting objects).

    The drag selection tool The drag selection tool

    Selects objects by dragging; lets you select objects that are obscured by other objects (see Selecting objects).

    The layer-offset tool The layer-offset tool

    Moves the selected layer relative to other layers in the object (see Using the Layer palette).

    The rectangle tool The rectangle tool

    Draws squares and rectangles (see Drawing shapes).

    The rounded-rectangle tool The rounded-rectangle tool

    Draws squares and rectangles with rounded corners (see Drawing shapes).

    The ellipse tool The ellipse tool

    Draws circles and ellipses (see Drawing shapes).

    The polygon tool The polygon tool

    Draws objects that have 3 to 10 sides (see Drawing shapes).

    The pen tool The pen tool

    Creates paths, or adds or removes points from an existing path (see Using the pen tool).

    The pen selection tool The pen selection tool

    Selects and manipulates points on a path (see Adjusting path segments).

    The type tool The type tool

    Adds and edits type (see Using text in compositions).

    The text field tool The text field tool

    Creates a container for text that can be controlled through scripting (see Using text fields).

    The crop tool The crop tool

    Adjusts the displayed portion of objects (see Cropping objects).

    The transform tool The transform tool

    Skews, shears, or rotates objects. Also moves the object anchor point (see Transforming objects).

    The paint bucket tool The paint bucket tool

    Fills layers and objects with the selected color or style (see Copying colors and styles).

    The eyedropper tool The eyedropper tool

    Samples colors or styles (see Copying colors and styles).

    The hand tool The hand tool

    Moves the area being viewed within the Composition window (see ).

    The zoom tool The zoom tool

    Increases and decreases the magnification in the Composition window (see ).

    The edit mode button The edit mode button

    Activates the editing mode, LiveMotion's default mode.

    The preview mode button The preview mode button

    Activates the preview mode, which allows you to run animations and test rollovers and scripting.

To show or hide the toolbox:

    Choose Window > Tools.

To move the toolbox:

    Drag the toolbox by its title bar.

To select a tool:

    Click its icon in the toolbox.
