Choosing a visualization

Visualizations are splashes of color and geometric shapes that change with the beat of the music that is playing.

Use the Now Playing feature to watch visualizations as your music plays.

When Windows Media Player is in full mode, visualizations display in the Now Playing feature. When Windows Media Player is in compact mode, visualizations display only if the skin supports it.

Visualizations are grouped into collections centered on specific themes, such as ambience or spikes. You can add and remove visualization collections from Windows Media Player. You can set properties, such as the size of the video window or offscreen buffer, for some collections. For more information about visualizations, see Related topics.

To use a different visualization

  1. Click the Now Playing feature.

  2. On the View menu, point to Visualizations, point to the visualization collection, and then click the visualization you want to see.

Note   The Digital playback check box on the CD Audio tab must be selected for visualizations to work when playing a CD track. To verify the check box is selected, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the CD Audio tab.

You can also change the visualization by clicking the small arrow buttons on the lower left edge of the display, below the visualization, to cycle through the visualizations.
