You can use Windows NT Server event logs to verify that Microsoft SMTP Service is performing correctly. Logging begins automatically whenever Windows NT Server is started.
There are three Windows NT Server event logs: System, Application, and Security. Within each log, Microsoft SMTP Service records informational, warning, and error events.
Monitor these logs closely and periodically archive them to avoid running out of space. To avoid losing information, clear the logs occasionally so that Microsoft SMTP Service can continue to write new events.
