Viewing Windows NT Server Event Logs

You can use Event Viewer to view System, Application, or Security event logs.

From the Start menu, choose Programs, select Administrative Tools, and then select Event Viewer.

From the Log menu, select the log you want to review: System, Application, or Security.

Log Description

System Records events logged by Windows NT Server system components. It also lists the Microsoft SMTP Service settings in place at startup.

Application Records events logged by applications.

Security Records security events, helping to track changes to the security system and identify any possible breaches of security. You can only view the Security log if you are an administrator.
