KARAT INFORMATION SYSTEM  

KARAT is a comprehensive information system of a new generation designed for management of medium-sized and large production and business organizations. It was created by our program specialists on the basis of more than seven years of experience with development and implementations of the ISO information system and it takes advantages of the Client/Server technology.

The information systems created in the Client/Server architecture are getting more and more attention on the information technology market. Their architecture layout itself provides them with exeptional attributes, at the same time, however, by virtue of their flexibility, they allow the software and hardware prices to be kept at a reasonable level.

Modularity: KARAT is a modern modular system which does not make you work with predefined application requests. It is designed to permit configuration of particular areas in accordance with your organizational structure and to be fully tailored to actual processes in your company. Individual program modules can be run separately.

Data security: Data security is of supreme importance in the field of information systems. One of the basic advantages of the Client/Server architecture is utilization of transactive data processing technology, where the server is used to retrieve and process the data, whereas the client - a personal computer - only presents this data to the user in a comfortable graphic environment. The transactive data processing will ensure data consistency even in case of a failure during execution of an operation which has not been finished yet. In connection with data base access authority system and an individual access system (for user, groups, modules, actions and objects), a maximum measure of security is ensured.

Flexibility: Another advantage of the KARAT information system is its adaptability to the individual users┤ particular requests. There are tools available for data base table layout, creation and design of output reports and system sheet design. Their look, size and number of fields can be changed as desired in a simple way, finished calculations and figures can be inserted etc.

Technology: The analysis and design of the KARAT system were done under application of the PowerDesigner 5.0 integrated tool pack. The client part of the system is created in the environment of the PowerBuilder 5.0 Enterprise development tool. It is an object-directed means designed for development of comprehensive , high-efficiency client/server applications in a graphic environment. Supporting a wide range of data bases (Sybase, Oracle, Informix, MS SQL Server etc. and of course ODBC) as well as the OS software (Windows 95m Windows 3.11, NT, Macintosh, Novell NetWare, OS/2, UNIX) is a matter of course. The system communicates with MS Office products by means of the OLE technology. In the field of data bases, the resulting application is debugged against the Sybase SQL Anywhere, Sybase SQL Server and MS SQL Server products.
