Musicvox Space Cadets Arrive
Musicvox is introducing a trio of Space Cadets: a 6-string guitar, 12-string guitar, and 4-string bass. All feature a solid mahogany body and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.

Nord Modular 3.0 Plans Updated
Clavia has posted new details on the 3.0 release of the software for the Nord Modular due later this Summer. This will be the first release to run native under MacOS.

MPC2000 Version 1.72 Software Released
Akai has posted a new operating system for their MPC2000 MIDI Production Center on their web site. It is primarily a maintenance release.

New A/D Converter from MindPrint
MindPrint has announced their new AN/DI Pro analog-to-digital converter with mic and line inputs, capable of providing 24-bit, 96 kHz conversion to AES/EBU or S/PDIF formats.

BeOS and Echo Achieve 3ms Latency
Be has announced that in combination with Echo's audio interfaces like the Layla, Gina, and Darla, BeOS applications can experience output latencies of just 3 milliseconds! When using the computer to process a live audio input, the latency is just 8 milliseconds - substantially better than what can be achieved easily with MacOS or Windows.

New ZOOM Multi-Effects Pedal
ZOOM has announced their GFX707 guitar multi-effects pedal which offers a variety of effects plus a built-in expression pedal and drum machine.

PreSonus Announces VXP Mic Pre/Processor
A new single channel mic processor will be coming from PreSonus that combines a mic pre, compressor, expander, de-esser, EQ, and peak limiter, all in a single rack space package.

Hamer Introduces New Hollow Body Guitars
Hamer has announced their Newport hollow body guitars, featuring a mahogany neck and body, arched spruce top, and a pair of single coil pickups hand-built in Seymour Duncan's custom shop. A Newport Pro with Seth Lover humbuckers will also be available.

Sound Forge, ACID to Include MP3 Encoding
Sound Forge plans to give ACID and Sound Forge the capability to export songs and audio to MP3 format. This will initially be provided via a plug-in, but likely integrated into the products later.

DAFx '99 Call for Papers
Planning for the second DAFx conference, a conference for digital audio and music processing to be held in December of this year, is under way. Researchers and authors interested in presenting must submit abstracts by June 15.

Voice Tweaker Update Does 96 kHz
RBC has updated their Voice Tweaker DirectX Plug-In for pitch transposition and correction to version 2.10, which includes support for sampling rates up to 96 kHz. You can download the demo version.

Emagic Ships Audiowerk2 Production Kit
For those looking for a simple solution for recording, producing, and sharing their music, Emagic is offering their Audiowerk2 audio card, audio/MIDI sequencing software, and ZAP together in a cross platform bundle. Mac users will also get audio CD mastering software.
