Libera's machines are not peripatetic vehicles of discussion and criticism, like
Krzysztof Wodiczko's vehicles (to which the artist refers a few times in his statements).
They are static and serve to project some precedents - social role models: a strong
male, a fastidious female concerned with her appearance - but constantly in flux with
the times and their location. A male with an extra long penis - the imaginary result of
using the 'Universal Penis Expander' - is the subject of
dreams and fantasies produced by the pornographic industry and is well-known
in European folklore (beginning in
ancient Greece) or American folklore (e.g. fear of the black man well equipped by
nature and appealing to white women), as well as, maybe even most importantly,
the projection of ecstatic practises in esoteric yoga, tantra and other schools.

With the 'Universal Penis Expander', as well as the 'Birth Beds for Girls'
and the earlier
body building set 'Body Master' (for children under nine) Libera employs the
simulation of
items and devices which really exist, which our culture actually creates to
allow society to match the idealised Model (...)
