.... and, most of all,
the LEGO 'concentration camp' sets.
...
This 'toy' very convincingly simulates a real LEGO set
- through the use of
real blocks and identical packaging. In this set for 'cruel play' the artist refers to the
problem of aggression and cruelty, shown every day by the media, ridden with reports from
Bosnia, Liberia, Burundi, Rwanda and before that Somalia, Ethiopia, Chile, Cambodia, China...
and back to the Soviet and Nazi camps.
Creating these sets Libera created a complex and
exploding mixture - connecting the problems of aggression and cruel play (compare 'Lord
of the Flies' by William Golding) and educational toy technology with games and
solutions based on (as with many other toys) the patterns of conflict,
combat and violence.
