Irish Organic Farm Guesthouses

Irish organic farmers and growers are opening their houses to visitors as part of the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association. 'Now you can stay in a big house, farmhouse, cottage or hostel and eat good food wherever you go. In every house you will find a personal welcome and the best of home grown food or other carefully selected produce.' For example:

'Moneygold is a traditional stone cottage set beside the mountains and the sea. 20kms of beaches. Safe swimming, lagoon, islands and sand dunes. Indoor gym and sauna 1km. Organic farm with Connemara ponies. We teach riding, also English for foreign students. Traditional music. Bed and Breakfast from L12, hostel beds at L5 per night. Tel 071 63337.'

For descriptions of the seven places on the circuit, contact Gillies Macbain, Cranagh Castle, Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland (tel 0504 53104). (Cranagh Castle is itself on the list from L4 a night for hostel accommodation, with private rooms also available. It offers introductory courses in the walled organic garden.)
