One of the things that worries governments is that the proportion of 'old' people in the population remains high compared with the number of 'workers' who produce the 'wealth' needed to support the 'non-workers'.
Is there any difference between the 'wealth' created by human workers and the 'wealth' created by machines? (I put 'wealth' in inverted commas because I am not at all sure what it means, though I suspect any meaningful definition will have to be tied in with natural resources.) Put even more crudely the question would become: 'Why shouldn't robots pay for old-age pensions?'
