Videos get kids to eat healthy foods

From an item by Nick Nuttall in The Times (Aug. 25th '92).

Fergus Lowe, professor of psychology at the University of Wales in Bangor, has shown that 'fussy eater' children can be persuaded to eat healthy foods through the use of video films showing role models eating and praising the taste of food for which the particular children have shown distaste - such as broccoli, spinach and fruits. In the video, characters called Food Dudes who are cool and soshisticated (and about the same age as the children) have a mission in life to promote healthy eating. They are seen in battle against the forces of evil led by General Junk and the Junk Junta.

Professor Lowe believes that altering eating habits in childen is the key to improving the nation's long-term health.
