Using the Field Test Display

Available tests

Following test displays are available through the Field Test Display:

Display 1: Information of the serving cell
Display 2: More information of the serving cell
Display 3: Information of the serving cell and 2 strongest neighbours
Display 4: Information of the 3rd, 4th and 5th strongest neighbours
Display 5: Information of 6th, 7th and 8th strongest neighbours
Display 6: Network selection display
Display 7: System information bits for serving cell
Display 10: Values of paging repeat period, TMSI and periodic location update timer, AFC and AGC
Display 11: Network parameters
Display 12: Ciphering, hopping DTX status and IMSI
Display 13: Uplink DTX switching display
Display 17: Switch BTS_TEST status
Display 19: Toggle Cell Barred Status

Displays are numbered from 1 to 19. With the normal terminal software field test displays are not working, a special field test software is needed.

Displays give following information:

Carrier number. The range is 1-124 in GSM900, and 512-885 in GSM1800.
MS RX level in dBm.
Received signal quality. The range is GSM 0-7.
MS TX power level. The range is 5-19.
C1 path loss criterion, used for cell selection and reselection, the range in GSM is -99 till 99.
C2 cell reselection criterion. The range is -99 till 99.
BSIC (Base Station Identity Code).
RLT (Radio Link Timeout).
Timeslot. The range in GSM is 0-7.
Indication of no serv power save - state.
Indication of the transmitter status.
Information of the network parameters.
TMSI (Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity)
Cell identification (Cell ID, number of the used cell)
MCC (Mobile Country Code)
MNC (Mobile Network Code)
LAC (Location Area Code)
Ciphering (on/off)
Hopping (on/off)
DTX (on/off) (Discontinous Transmission)
Discarding cell barred information

In addition, the following information is available of six strongest neighbours (there are eight locations reserved for these strongest neighbouurs but #7 and #8 are not implemented):
