5. Options

5.1 Options

This screen allows you to set the Hefty FTP default options. These are also the settings used when a URL is dropped onto the queue from another program.

Firstly, enter your email address. This is used as the password for anonymous logins to remote servers.

The Default Timeout is the number of seconds to wait for a server response before assuming that the connection has dropped. Normally 180-360 are good values.

Times to Retry specifies the number of times to retry a connect or transfer before assuming that you will get no joy.

The Retry Delay allows you to specify the interval between retries in seconds.

Simultaneous Transfers allows you to specify whether you may browse an FTP site at the same time as downloading from it. If you encounter a site that allows only one connection from an IP address at any time, disable this.

Use NOOPs specifies whether Hefty should transmit NOOPs to keep a control connection alive. A NOOP is a "no-operation" that does nothing other than inform the server that you are still there so that it does not time your connection out.

The Transfer Options are the defaults to use for the options displayed in the main screen ( see Section 3.6 ).

The Display Font is the font for Hefty FTP to use in display fields.

5.2 Registration

If you have registered Hefty FTP, this is where to enter your registration details. You need to enter your User Name and Code EXACTLY as in the registration email sent to you. Once this has been entered correctly, it need not be entered again.
