Details here concern Satellite programmes on SF and Computers - but may include special programme details

ie. about Space or other factual science topics.

Here are some details about what's on satellite in Britain (mainly from Astra-BSkyB) for Sc-Fi fans and those interested in computers.

Sliders

Highlander

'Highlander' (Sky 1) Friday 3rd April was the LAST EPISODE EVER!! Terrible!! They have now gone back to the start.

Nearly as big a shock as 'Blake's Seven' being killed off!!

And finally (for the moment at least)on Sky One is Star Gate 1 which is shown on Wednesdays at 8 0'clock CET. Here is a picture of the 'gate' in action.

Star Gate 1

UK Gold

Just finished Season 4 is 'Blake's Seven' which was on UK Gold every Sunday morning about 9.15 am and was followed on by 'Dr Who' - usually showing a complete story. Current stories being shown involve the seventh doctor and Ace (picture below.)

ACE

As of July 4th UK Gold has also started to reshow the first Dr Who stories featuring Willian Hartnell. The early sories are shown on Saturdays and the Seventh Doctor stories are shown on the Sundays.

First Doctor

Soolin

The picture above is of Glynis Barber who joined the series in Season 4 as Soolin.

Liberator

The picture above is Blake's ship the Liberator.

The BBC (in Great Britain) has produced a new radio play to transmit around the 20th Anniversary of Blakes Seven. It was broadcast on the Saturday Playhouse (Radio 4)on Saturday 17th. Jan 1998 at 2.30 pm.(local time) !!Update!! This story is now out on Audio tape - price 8.99 UKPs.

Blake's Seven returns Sunday 28th June starting with 'Time Squad' (Epi. 4 from Season 1 ie. the first story with the full crew on the Liberator.)

Late addition - UK Gold now started to show Blake's Seven on Saturday's and Sunday's - except when they decide to show a double helping of Dr Who.

At this point on my page I had a 'Table' listing the likely screening dates for Blake's Seven which I have now removed. UK Gold keep changing the weekend showings. ie some weekends it's on twice and sometimes it's not on at all.

Computer Programs on Satellite TV in the UK

The other main group of programs I watch on satellite are Computing shows.

On Saturday mornings between about 8.30 AM (BST) and 11.00 AM there area number of shows related to computers on the CNN transponder ( here in Britain. ) Another good program is 'Computer Chronicles' on CNBC ( my favourite - Saturday night 11.30pm - as part of PCTV). It is followed by Internet Cafe.

There is also [.TV] formally 'The Computer Channel' on Astra 6.00 -8.00pm each day. This channel has improved somewhat and is worth an occasional look especially on Tuesdays when all things 'Internet' are covered.

Another good show - perhaps spoilt by too many repeat segments is 'The Site' on MSNBC - which seems to be off air for the Summer.

The last two shows for now are 'The Computer Connection' on CNN and 'dot.com.' on CNBC.

Most of these shows have their own web site and at a later update I hope to include a number of links to them from this page.
