Westwood Studios have announced the release of Dune 2000, a new version of their classic strategy game Dune 2, which was converted to the Acorn platform by Eclipse.

The new version features vastly improved graphics, which are all in high-resolution, as well as offering Internet/Network play and a new Command & Conquer style inferface.

Graphics

• 16-bit high colour (8-bit for faster play).
• Dynamic, real-time lighting.
• Translucent smoke, missile trails and explosion effects.
• New video mission briefings.

Other features

• All the original units and structures plus two new units: the engineer and thumper.
• New music.
• New C & C style interface:
  • Create teams to carry out specific orders.
  • Radar map can detect aircraft.
  • 'Map bookmarks' feature allows player to instantly return to specific hots spots on the playing area.
• Structures can now be sold if necessary.
• More varied mission objectives.
