Make sure that you have installed and configured the latest driver.
Make sure that the serial device settings in the NS-Link driver match the serial device that you are connecting to the port.. If configuring the DeviceMaster (DeviceMaster PRO, DeviceMaster RTS, and DeviceMaster Serial Hub) for sockets, make sure that the Server Status (main) web page matches the serial device that you are connecting to the port.
If you have a spare DeviceMaster try replacing the DeviceMaster.
