The problem is only that M@tabox says "why should we license WarpUP if we have
our own solution". They don't see that incompatibility is a big problem.
(Maybe now more, as probably a lot of people requested it ?) H&P offered them
(and Phase 5) from the start "Look, license our 68k Emulation, it is tested
since a very long time, and it is 100% compatible and stable." Both M@tqbox
and P5 told they would not be interested, but preferred to do something
themselves, even if it is totally incompatible. They think they can still sell
more Boards on a slightly cheaper (and the license fee H&P want is really not
much, it is just that adapting the 68k Emulation to a new Board is work and
they have of course to pay their programmers for the time they work on this...
you do not get software for no money...) instead of a slightly more expansive
compatible solution.
I have still the hope that M@tabox can still be convinced, that this won't
happen, and that software authors will simply ignore their Board if it is not
compatible... but we will see...
Opposed to P5 M@tabox is at least open to discussion, so i think there is
still the chance they will see they need WarpUP Support if they want sales of
their hardware. But can't be guaranteed. Of course if they go ahead with a
third PPC Kernel this would be desaster for the software market... another
split... and of course - as i do nokt think they have currently even
something running - their 68k Emulation surely will not be fully compatible...
when would they have time for Betatesting ? Well, i surely hope they forget
about this incompatible solution and license the H&P one...

I met Martin Schueler at th eCologne show and could ask him some questions. He
is still working on the Board, but it is still taking time. He could not say
me a date. The software will be WarpUP. (Martin is a good friend of Michael
Rock of H&P, so that one was never a question)
