Thanks for that, Alex. I don't quite understand the distinction you seem to
be making, though. Certainly, AFS was "commercial". But so is PFS. Every
bit as much.
As I understand it, AFS was sold by an Amiga software publisher (can't
remember the name), whereas PFS, the successor to AFS is now published by
the program author (Michel Pelt), trading for this purpose under the name of
'Greed'!! I believe that MP took over his own marketing, partly because his
former publisher ceased trading and partly because of a loss of confidence
between them, arising out of some sort of a misunderstanding or dispute
about a version of DiskSalv that was supposed to be being readied for use
under AFS/PFS.
I believe that PFS is the very same program as AFS, but with considerable
further development and, of course, with ongoing support.
PFS is certainly "commercial" just as AFS was. The price remains quite
high.
I bought PFS2, and it's VERY DEFINITELY worth every penny. I'm just not
sure that the upgrade from PFS2 to PFS3 is financially justifiable at the
price quoted.
