Subject:NSD patch config and atapi.device troubles

From: "Eng. Ricardo Fitzgerald" <axis@distrinet.com.uy>

Hi,

Since I've installed 3.5 my Amiga refuses to boot properly if I have a
CD in the CD ROM reader. My setup is :

Amiga 1400 T (1200 with Zorro II buses in Micronik Tower)
blizzard PPC 603e+ 240 Mhz and 040 25 Mhz SCSI
64 Mb 32 bit RAM EDO
EZ IDE 4 way adapter with IDEFix software
1 6.4 Gb main HD on IDE port 0, partitioned in 4 . Workbench, Programs, Work
and MacOS (empty --- it used to unconfigured by itselt)
1 2 Gb Mac OS 8.6 HFS+ formatted Mac HD on the PPC SCSI port in an external
case.
1 ATAPI CD ROM 40x on IDE port 1, (it refuses to work as slave on port 0)
CyberVsion 64 3D (new batch)
Picasso 96
Viewsonic 17PS monitor
Standard 1084S monitor

I did the following after installing OS 3.5 and the boing bag upgrade :

1. Set Setpatch to SKIPROMUPDATES
Result, didn't work the machine refuses to boot.

2. Remove the loadIDE command from the startup-sequence
Result no changes refuses to boot.

3. Set setpatch to normal boot and edit NSDpatch.config in devs: to read the
atapi.device.

Result it works but unless I remove the CD from the reader the machine boots
in non Picasso 96 mode, it's very weird (it boots in a 31khz mode ).

My question is: what can I do next ?

Kind regards

Rick
