Shouldn't be a problem with ArtEffect2, since this is an old version of AE,
so it shouldn't cost that much? Also, when I checked the H&P site the other
day, they had a special offer price for AE3, coming in under 200
Deutschmarks. Not sure about AE2(.x)?

What do you mean by this? If it's compatibility you're worried about,
there's no problems, I have AE1.5, 2.6 and 3.0.11 running on OS3.5, without
compatibility problems. But I'm not sure exactly what problems you mean in
this respect.

If you have the money (problem 1 :)) I would definitely go for version 3. It
is a vaste improvement over version 2. The much improved layer function,
better memory usage, and some assorted other goodies make this a superiour
choice over version 2. You could try downloading the demo for 2.6 from the
H&P site or Aminet, install it, and have a look for yourself if you like it
or not.

Photogenix also works without probs on OS3.5BB1. ArtEffect is (future
development) also tested on OS3.5, I think that of course H&P wants their
own ArtEffect to not cause problems with their own OS?

Yes. It is all being tested with OS3.5. During the testing phase of OS3.5
talks have been going between the OS3.5 team and the programmer of AE. An
ArtEffect 4 is underway, which will be fully OS3.5 compatible, and improved
to use the new printer driver system from OS3.5. Don't think it's a secret
to tell that here, because the author announced this on the public AE
mailing list. As a tester for ArtEffect, I test this new version under the
latest OS3.5BB1+, and there's more testers who also have OS3.5. It works as
it should under OS3.5.

IMHO PhotoGenix would win here.

Matter of taste. I prefer AE.

Don't know about PhotoGnx, but AE is being further developed. Guess the same
is true for PhotoGenix?

If you need one :)

I prefer AE, but a lot is my personal opinion (such as GUI, etc).
