Not a problem at all. You first need to be sure that if you are going to use
both IDE drives in the computer at the same time, you will have to set the
jumpers on the two IDE drives for which drive is master and which is slave.
Usually the drives have the jumper settings in a small decal on the drive.
After which, no need - nor do you want to low level format. Simply use the
HDToolBox program that will find the IDE drives (scsi.device actually the IDE
controller device for the A1200 and A4000s) and partition the drive. I am
assuming you are using OS3.5 or the NSD patch thingy that allows you to do
drives above 4 gig. If not, you will simply be able to only use 4 gigs of it
anyway. After the partitioning, format and go.
If you don't have OS3.5 yet, please consider doing so. It is a great OS if only
for the ability to use the larger drives without problems. I use a 10.4 gig
and CD ROM - both IDE - in my A4000.
