You do have disabled User-Startup as well? As you describe it, it still
could be a lot of things...

Hmmm, how do you know if your WB crashes as soon as it opens? :)
You removed the old "NewIcons" program from your user-startup, I assume? If
so, its good if you still see NewIcons. That means the WB's new
icon.library is in place.
