On my A1200 I have a similar problem when not using SKIPROMUPDATES. A first
reboot from Setpatch is done. Then Setpatch executes the NSDpatch.cfg file,
the computer is loading some files, then - it comes to a standstill. But I
don't know where it stops. Maybe it has even started the whole system. I
can't tell exactly as I get no more video output after the loading has
finished, neither on my BVision nor on the AGA screen. The last I can see is
that Intuition asking to close all windows. After this the screen gets black
and my monitor indicates that there is no more video signal.
I tried it with the original 3.5 and with the BB#1. Now it seems to be
worse. With the original 3.5 the Amiga at least started to load WB before
losing the video signal . Now I also got a much to high video signal output
from my BVision after setting SKIPROMUPDATES and doing a warm reboot. I had
to switch off my Miggy to get back to normal state :(
(Just to mention it, David, I have scsi.device 40.12 in my KickROMs.)
So I have to set SKIPROMUPDATES scsi.device to run my Amiga. There are no
drives connected to the IDE bus but a not used 4-way-IDE-adapter. No
software is installed for it (why, as it is not in use). I didn't remove it
as it shortens the boot time with no IDE drives connected to the bus. MAybe
the adapter is the problem, I have to investigate when I open my tower again
one day.
Btw, is the boot time shortened with the updated scsi.device when no drive
is connected to the IDE bus? If so I could remove the adapter because it
would have become useless.

Wolfgang
