    Seal Notes:

  • Fact Sheet #1 - Information About "Balti"
The National Aquarium in Baltimore's Marine Animal Rescue Program (MARP) rescued the seals, which are both probably in their first year of life. The female harbor seal was rescued from the beach of Ocean City, Md. in January 29, 1997. The animal was severely dehydrated and was suffering from bacterial and parasitic infections. After a period of intensive meducal care by the National Aquarium in Baltimore's veterinarians, the harbor seal gained both strength and weight and was successfully treated for heartworm disease.
