Video File Converter
A Video Converter is provided in order to convert
other video file formats,
such as MPEG, to sequential PPM or PGM files. To invoke the
converter, select from the Utility menu
[Utility|Video Converter].
Enter the required information in the video converter as follows:
- Video source file field: This is the file that contains the unconverted
digitized video. Use the browse button to locate it.
- From/To fields: This is the start and finish frame number of the
video segment that you
are converting.
- Every field: This determines whether all frames will be used or if some
will be excluded. You can jump to every second, third, or forth frame,
etc. If all frames are to be used, enter 1.
- Base name field: This is the name that you give to the file sequence.
- Start field: The first frame number of the result sequential file.
- Format option buttons: When 'same as source' is checked, the
converter output PPM files if the source video is in color and PGM
files if the video is gray scale. When 'gray scale' is checked, the
converter will output gray scale PGM image files (which is only 1/3 the size
of PPM files).
- In dir field: This is the directory where converted files go. Use the browse
button to select a directory.
- Convert button: launches the convertion process.
- Abort Button: stops the convertion in progress.
- Close button: closes this module.
- Help button: invokes on-line help.
