News

The first release version of Icedump 5 for SoftICE versions 3.22, 3.23, 3.24, 3.25, 4.00 and 4.01 is now available. NTIcedump is now in beta testing, core features have been implemented for NTIce 3.25 only but more features and version support will be added before the first public release. If you have bug reports, suggestions or are willing to help compile information for this page or help maintain it, please contact me.

Downloads

Icedump often goes through several builds a day, so to ensure you have the latest version you should check 'history.txt' instead of relying on the timestamps. The latest version will be uploaded immediately to this site and also to the mirror at icedump.cjb.net (though at the moment the mirror will not be updated until I get access to it ;) I shall no longer be making manual updates to some of the private FTP sites.

IceDump 5.17

FAQ

When using auto-dump why does the character '/' appear in the filenames?

When displaying the filename the dump number indicated will be one less than what will be dumped e.g. if icedump shows C:\DEFAULT.001, it will actually dump to C:\DEFAULT.002. Also, for the case when the dump number is to end in '0', the dump number will end in '/' e.g. "00/" will dump to "000" since the ASCII representation of "/" is one less than that of "0". These are of course all features and not bugs :p

I've changed the default filename for auto-dump and recompiled. Now the filename doesn't increase properly. Why?

When you change the filename, you also need to change an additional variable. Look for ".EmodeExtPtr: dd 11" just below the filename. This is a pointer to where the dump number is located within the filename (relative to the start of the filename). There is of course a separate pointer for the memdump filename and screedump filename.

How do I know which version of Icedump I have installed?

Type 'PAGEIN' at the SoftICE prompt and it will display the version/build of Icedump along with help information. Version information is implemented on build 5.10g and newer. If no version information is displayed, then download a newer version of Icedump.

Installation Questions

Icedump/patcher doesn't work...

Before writing to us, make sure you are using ONLY the latest version of icedump and the patcher (some very early releases are mutually incompatible) and RTFM. Almost all questions we get can be resolved by following the above two steps.

When the SoftICE console pops up, I just get a garbage screen as if the refresh rate was too high.

I've had this problem before when installing sice 4 over an older version and I've spoken to others who have had the same problem. As far as we can tell, this is not an Icedump issue and is a problem with SoftICE. I did try and reinstall sice, but this didn't help. In the end I just reformatted and reinstalled both windows and SoftICE. That fixed the problem. You can probably fix it with less dramatic measures.
