A Great Horned Owl was photographed near Orocovis in December, 1994. It is much larger and darker than the Short-eared Owl. Length: 46-63 cm.; weight: 910-2,500 g. Audio (G. Lasley). Since this species has never been documented elsewhere in the West Indies, the origin of this bird is doubtful. Range: South America and North America (Alaska and Canada south to Honduras). |
Un Búho Cornudo Americano fue fotografiado cerca de Orocovis en diciembre, 1994. Esta especie es más grande y oscura que el Múcaro Real. Tamaño: 46-63 cm.; peso: 910-2,500 g. Audio (G. Lasley). Dado que esta especie no ha sido reportada en otras islas del Caribe, el origen del individuo reportado de Orocovis es dudoso. Distribución: América del Sur y América del Norte (desde Alaska y Canadá hasta Honduras). |
