Random Walk manga synopsis.

Act 04

Act 1 (June'2000)
Yuka-chan is a happy 15 years old student attending the Morinaga high school. Her papa is a writer of mystery novels and is married (2nd time) to Youko (who Yuka calls Youko-mama), she has great friends, and life is generally beautiful. At school, she tries making friends with Katsura Ishimaru, a beautiful girl from the basket ball club. Because Yuka is so cute, she usually gets her way. One day, while playing golf with her father, they run across an old friend of his, who realizes that his son attends the same high school as Yuka. Next school day, she asks her best friend and classmate, Touko, if she knows of anybody on 2nd grade by the name of Shiki (her father's friend's son), but Touko hasn't really checked on 2nd graders... After school, Touko convinces Yuka to go Karaoke. Her plan is to go with somebody else, order drinks and all that and then excuse themselves to go to the toilet and disappear from the place. Yuka doesn't really think that's a good idea, but as they talk about it, a couple of cool looking guys approach them and ask them if they have free time... Yuka is taken by one of them, and Touko agrees right away. The guys introduce themselves as students of the S-dai (university). While in karaoke, Yuka is very happy and feels more and more attracted to the guy, but when they are about to pull out their plan of sneaking away, it's obvious the two guys were already counting on it and it's them who leaves them alone to pay the bill! Even though Touko is very angry and Yuka tells her that it was a mean thing to do what she was planing to, she can't stop thinking about the guy. At school, a very angry Touko runs to Yuka, the two guys aren't from the S-dai, but from their own high-school! They are from 2nd grade. While Katsura tries to calm Touko, Yuka sneaks off in search of the guy... who, of course, happens to be her father's friend's son!
Act 2 (July'2000)
Some days have come by and Yuka and Shiki are getting friendly. Yuka gives him a "recommendation letter" from his father about him getting her as a girlfriend, and so they joke about it. Later Yuka discovers Touko being rather friendly to Tsukasa (the other guy they met in Act 1), Yuka asks her about it and then asks Katsura if she's got a boyfriend, to which she blushes a lot and denies it, though she liked somebody in middle school. Then they talk about relationships for a while. After school, Yuka and Shiki walk together and meet Youko-mama, after she leaves, Yuka explains Shiki about her and her papa. Later at dinner Yuka talks about Shiki with him and Youko. Next day some guy tries to invite Katsura to some event, but she declines. Yuka and Touko saw that and they talk more with her about boys and relationships. Later on, Katsura sees Yuka talking with some guy and she could be as open with boys as she is. At the library, Yuka shows Shiji her father's book, and explains that her second mama, Chirae-mama, is a nail salon owner. Shiji thought that her second mama was Youko, but Yuka tells him that Youko is her third mama, and she laughs at his father's romantic affairs. They talk a little more and Shiji tells her that she is very cute, Yuka asks him basically if they are going to start a passionate affair and then they kiss.
Act 3 (August'2000)
Shiki and Yuka go out together holding hands, eating together, shopping, etc. However, after he leaves, Yuka doesn't look like everything is going fine. In school, she complains about it to Katsura, and says that he is just always looking the "kool guy" way. They get the results of a test, and Ruka has done badly, later on his father sees it and decides to call Ruka's older brother as a private teacher to help her. Ruka explains to Shiki that he, Touwa, was the son of Sachie-mama from her previous marriage before Yuka's father, so he is some kind of "former social brother." Then Yuka asks Shiki if he likes her, and he says yes; Ruka asks him how much, and he says, still in his happy kool face that she is the one he likes most right now. Ruka is not very convinced, though. Touwa arrives to Yuka's place to study with her and Yuka remembers their long history of not liking each other when they were younger. Yuka thinks that now they are older, and tries to joke with him--to no avail (^^; ) She really dislikes him! Meanwhile, as Shiki is walking in the streets, a girl collides with him and her things fall to the ground, so he helps her, she is dark haired and pretty. He notices that she is carrying a book from a library and wonders why doesn't she just buy it, because returning the books is so tiresome, but then he notices something on the street, it's a lip cream stick... from that girl?
Act 4 (September'2000)
The girl with shoulder-length dark hair is looking at some books in a library when Shiki appears to return the lip cream stick to her (he knows she would be there because of the book she was carrying). But she says it's not hers, to Shiki's surprise! However, she is happy that he went all the way there to return it and they both start to talk. Yuka and Shiki are going out after school and Yuka wants a soft ice-cream (creamy ice-cream a-la-McDonalds) but when Shiki takes out some coins from his pocket, he sees the lip cream and while Yuka is going for the ice-cream, he looks at it thoughtfully. Yuka wonders at him. Yuka and her father go play golf again and talk about boys, meanwhile Shiki meets the girl again, her name is Ryouko Seta and she has the same age as Shiki and Yuka but goes to another school. Yuka cancels a date with Shiki because she is meeting some friends from school. In the meeting Yuka and Touko meet one of their former classmates' girlfriend. While in the toilet, Yuka lends Touko her lip cream and remembers Shiki's and his face... However, Touko takes her back to the present as she talks about the girlfriend. When they go out of the toilet, the girl has heard everything and is crying very sorry! Shiki and Ryouko meet once again in the library and later on, as they talk about her and her lack of money, she admits she looks forward to meeting him... Shiki says that so does he and they both kiss. In their next date, Yuka notices Shiki has his mind elsewhere and wonders what is it with him. As they go into a Starbuck's Coffee (they are very popular in Tokyo now....), Ryouko is working there! Shiki and her are both shocked and later, when Yuka asks him if he knows her, his expression turns strange and Yuka gets really worried!
