The SociΘtΘ des amis du MusΘe national d'art moderne is a very old association linked to the collection of the museum which it supports. Set up in 1903, the SociΘtΘ des amis du Luxembourg was renamed SociΘtΘ des amis du MusΘe national d'art moderne in 1946. Since its inception, the association has acted as a catalyst for the extension of the museum's collections. Its aim is to bring together collectors and art lovers who wish to play a part in the activities of the Museum and support the development of its collections.


Those who decide to join the SociΘtΘ des amis du MusΘe national d'art moderne benefit from a privileged approach to the art of the 20th century that gives them in-depth knowledge and greater understanding of creativity in all its forms, from plastic arts to video and including architecture, design, photography, cinema and every aspect of contemporary art.

This privileged approach is echoed in the various activities offered to members of the association:

• Meetings with artists in their studios
• Tours of exhibitions with the director
• Trips in France and abroad to visit private collections, museums and artists' studios
• Meetings with the various people involved in the life of the Museum, in particular the curators, in order to gain greater understanding of the Museum's collection.

Thanks to financial support, enthusiasm and competence, we, the association's members, are participating in the development of the Museum of the 20th Century.
