Is there any way of adding a scrollbar to this as it's a bit limiting only being able to look at the most recent screenfull of data.

I don't know of a way to add a scrollbar, but if you have a big monitor, you can use:
/dev/ave/dsk/eterm -wwidth -hheight
The width and height are in CHARACTERS vice pixels.
