Ok girls I have a question for you and I hope you can
answer this sincerely. Ok so here goes: I donÆt like to
shave because my hair on my legs grow really fast ( I would
have to shave every day to keep them smooth) so I now wax
them. Well I am planning to travel to Europe this summer
and I am not sure what I am going to do. I was thinking
about bringing this thing called Epilady which is an
electronic hair remover but IÆm not sure if all youth
hostels have an outlet for itààDo any of you have a
suggestions (perhaps youÆve had a similar problem)

you can get epilady type hair removers which run on
batteries and so don't need an external power source. The
one I have is called the Emjoi Gently, and it works pretty
well but is very ainful; much like waxing pain, but goes on
for longer because it removes the hair more slowly. I can
sympathise with your plight as I also suffer from slightly
excessive hair on my legs and bikini line. I suggest you
get a waxing just before you go and then use your epilady
on the hairs just as they grow back. This is the most
effective way least painful way of keeping those legs silky
    smooth!!!

get a waxing during your stay in Europe? Or if you do it
yourself, you'll find wax etc in the shops in Europe as
    well...
If you bring an Epilady with you, be sure you bring an
adapter with you as the sockets are different in different
European countries. A battery-operated one would save you
    from that trouble, too.

  3. God Doesn't Want You To Shave Added by: Wanda

Don't shave. God created hair on your legs for a reason, so
    don't shave it off.

wanted you naked, too. So don't wear anything. For that matter, don't cut your hair, cut your nails, see the doctor...

Europe's pretty civilised you know, you'll be able to get a
wax there easily enough. However, depending on where in
Europe you plan to go, you may find that you blend in more
with the locals if you don't bother!

I agree go with a battery operated Emjoy Gently - that's
what I am taking with me this summer with the odd wax
thrown in to get me through

my dear, why are you so concerned with shaving your legs
when you are preparing to experience an enormous, glorious
new continent?? i would think that there are many much more
    important things to consider...
also...men don't shave their legs, why should we?
    liberate yourself!!!

  8. To wax or not to wax? Added by: hairy girl from Scandinavia
[Timestamp: Sat 8 May, 0:09 Tasmanian Standard Time]

If this matter is very important to you, it might be
relieving to know that in every major town in Europe
(exceptions might be in Kosova...) you can find places to
wax your legs. I would never bring ANYTHING not absolutely
necessary as I love travelling light.
And I agree with Waxer above that most european women don't
wax their legs. So why not try something different...

I am not an American or European either but I have quite
many western femal friends. I found that European women
don't care so much about the hair on legs as American women
do. Maybe you can give your legs a break when in Europe.

  11. Question/suggestion Added by: BB
[Timestamp: Mon 10 May, 23:33 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Wanda, what is the reason we have hair on our legs? I can't
imagine what use they might have.
Duko's advice is good, though - don't try an Epilady-type
device on very hairy legs until you are used to it. Get a
wax, then use the Epilady about once a week to just get the
hairs that have grown through. This will hurt at first, but
you do become de-sensitised over time, until it's just a
    little prickling/tingling feeling.

  12. hairy questions Added by: karin
[Timestamp: Thu 13 May, 6:05 Tasmanian Standard Time]

i agree with the above: no epilady for strong hair-growth.
my best friend suffered from ingrown hairs and follicle
inflammation because of it. but then, i used an epilady
myself for several years with no problems, (and i am pretty
hairy myself). yet, when you're travelling, i would not take
any risks. as said before: buying wax or depilatories is no
problem anywhere in europe, getting a wax done is a trifle
expensive here (germany), i don't know about the situation
in other countries. as for the remarks like'let it
grow' etc.: the main thing is that you feel comfortable with
yourself, hair or no hair, then you'll be more confident,
and that is the main thing. by the way: in germany and
eastern europe women are often not so preoccupied with this
question ( but in france or spain or italy it is quite the
opposite). and: this question is not embarrassing.

  13. IMHO... Added by: Miriam
[Timestamp: Sat 15 May, 18:39 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    ...I'd say don't bother. Living in Germany, I don't think I
knew any women who shaved their legs, and several thought it
was just plain weird. Having travelled through Europe, some
places women shave more than others, but it's still
relatively common not to shave. I don't do it myself, either
    - and as for BB's question of why it's there, I definitely
prefer the sensation of having hair there...it's much more
sensual, and I find it makes touch much more pleasurable. I
used to shave (teenager, living in the US - you feel you
have to), and when I stopped I was really thrilled with the
difference, so I haven't ever gone back!
Do whatever you're comfortable with. But this might be the
chance to try out not shaving.
