going to Uyuni, Bolivia from Chile

Can anyone advise me about how I could get to the Salar de
Uyuni from Northern Chile. Are there tour companies which go
from San Pedro de Atacama or from Calama, or any other
northern Chilean city. Can you do a one way tour (ie stay at
Uyuni at the end) or do you have to go back to the city you
started at. I realise it will be more expensive fron Chile,
but I'm trying to avoid the hours of travel from La Paz to
Uyuni.

Just did the tour two weeks ago. You can do the tour from
San Pedro de Atacames. If you want you can end in Uyuni and
continue travelling from there. As far as I heard from other
travelers it's not more expensive to go from Chili.
This tour was really one of the highlights during my time in
    South America.
One tip: bring things to keep you warm during the night, the
temperature drops to minus 20 at some places.

the only agency that does tours from chile to bolivia is
Colque tours, who are based in San Pedro de Atacama. the 3
day trip costs $80, but is $10 cheaper if you start from
    Bolivia.
