Peru - forest canopy walkways

Has anyone out there found a cheap way to ride the canopy
walkway near the ExplorNapo lodge (100km from Iquitos)? I'm
trying to avoid the words 'organised' and 'tour', but may
have to succumb...
thanks
mike

I've visited the ACEER canopy walkway and it is quite an
experience! About 1600 feet long and, in places, over 120
feet up - gives you a unique perspective of the rainforest
with a birds-eye view! Sunrise and sunset are beautiful.
Not sure, but I think you must be a guest of the ACEER lodge
(part of the Explorama group of facilities) to access the
walkway. Not that expensive compared to other Peru
rainforest destinations. Good luck! Regards, Tad

  2. Book Directly Added by: Nerissa (n-taylo@uiuc.edu)

I think Tad is right, you have to be a guest at ACEER to
have access. However, you don't have to go through a tour
agency. You can book your stay directly with Explorama (see
http://www.explorama.com/). Since you're looking for more
of a solitary experience ask them about their "Tambos" which
aren't listed on the web page. They are a couple of raised
wooden sleeping platforms located 2 miles away from ACEER by
footpath. Supposedly quieter with more wildlife. I've been
looking into the same thing myself for trip in November.
    Have fun, Nerissa
