Has anyone heard about the death of 2 gringos in Colombia
last week. Just wanting to know what happened and where?
Was it an innocent situation or were they involved in drugs?
We are heading that way and would like to find out about
the danger spots.

If you mean COLOMBIA, in South America try www.eltiempo.com
it is the main newspaper and will have info for you - as
long as you an muddle thru the Spanish. It has a menu for
    selecting days gone by.

I've not heard about it, but I've been in Colombia last
year, and I can tell you that it worth it...Each and every
gringos that have been travelling through south america and
that we met on the carrabean cost told us that it was on of
the most beautiful and wild and off mass turism of the
    carrabean basin.
Concerning the eventual dangers, if you respect elementary
principles (ie not dragging along at night ... avoid
guerrilla controled zones... ), there is no reason to fear
    this country.
If you are easily scared, keep away from Bogota and big
towns, but you may miss many things.
Finally, colombian people are generally very friendly, and
on the contrary of contries used to mass turism, they see
you as human beings and not dollars bag.
    Hope this help.
    Have a nice trip.

    2 gringo deaths were that?
Are you SURE or is this a loose story that's not true?
I just did a check on both CNN and BBC and none yielded any
results! I'm pretty sure they would have a story like
    this...
    Now:
2 gringo's where taken by the guerilla (they were in a very
dangerous zone)but let free (no ransom paid or anything)a
week ago when the guerilla realised they weren't CIA agents
or something. A guerilla leader declared that travelers are
not a target in an interbiew with a local newspaper.
3 gringos were killed a month or 2 ago, but they were human
    right activists, not travelers.
Maybe these two stories got mixed up?
    Check
    http://move.to/colombia
for safety info (read it all) and the true stories...
colombia is not unsafe, and very beautiful!
