Hello
I want to go from Lima to Quito by bus.
I have some questions:
How many hours total is the trip?
How many hours the Lima to Tumbes trip?
How many hours the Tumbes to Quito trip?
How many buses do I have to take?
How much is the total cost in US$ dollars?
What are the paper requirements to enter Ecuador from Peru
at the border?
Do you have to pay anything to enter Ecuador?
Is it true you cannot enter Ecuador after 5pm?
Whar are the names of good economic places to stay in Quito?
How much do you pay per night in Quito? (give me
equivalent in US$ dollars)
I will appreciate your help.
Indiana

1 about 36 hours but could be done in 30 if the buses didn't stop so often
2 24 hours but could be done in twenty
    3 about 12 hours
4 is possible to get a direct bus but I can't remember the name of the company. They run buses from Lima to Caracas via Quito and Bogota. Otherwise you could do it in two buses, or 3 or 4
5 The direct bus is about $30 or $40. I picked it up at the boarder crossing at Tumbes (although this isn't an official stop for it) and paid the driver $10 to get to Quito although i think it went in his pocket rather than to the bus company
6 entering at the boader is easy, just fill out a form and they stamp your passport, no payment, and yes th boarder crossing closer in the evening

The name of the bus company that does direct connections is "Orme±o". They run all over South America. My direct trip from Lima to Santiago cost about $92 as far as I remember, for 57 hours. I don't know about the Quito-Lima trip, but this could give you an indication of what they charge.
