hi,
For most countries you need "sufficient funds" to get in.
I was wondering, do they accept a creditcard as sufficient,
and can they check the balance of the account?

I have been to several countries in South America, and have
never had to show any type of "sufficient funds". I think a
credit card would suffice should the need arise. The best
way to ease through any type of customs/immigration station
is to wear the tidiest clothes in your pack and be very
    curteous and patient.

never been asked about that myself either and had not even
heard of anyone that was. That's for SA countries, but I
think it's different story in some Central American
countries. Anyway, I'm also pretty sure credit card is more
    than enough should this arise.

It depends on the PP u carry. When I had a third world PP,
immigration required proof of funds. But with a first world
PP there has never been any concern.
