My friend and I are looking to go to Antarctica this winter. Are there any web sites out there of cruise lines going to Antarctica? Any recommendations? Any comments. Anything welcomed.
Thanks.

I can recommend Quark Expeditions, look for that on the Web
look up the following pages:
www.chiptravel.cl/region/antartica/antartica_services.htm
www.noble-caledonia.co.uk/
www.antarticaconnection.com/tourlinks.htm
Well, we booked a trip in advance with Marine Expeditions
and went in early Feb 99.
One big tip, depending on how much time you have available
v.s. how much money you have to burn you can get to
Antarctica on standby places leaving Ushuaia mid to late
Feb. That is towards the end of the season, so the wildlife
is beginning to disappear and the weather may not be so
good. Lots of ice though!
Watch out for what type of boat you get, those without
stabilisers are very very iffy in the Drake Passage. The
russian research vessels are best as they are stabilised for
their original purpose of carrying scientific equipment.
Booked trips run around 4000 USD and up. Standby fares
should be at least half this. But you may have to wait
around for about a week for a boat, and you dont have the
same selection.
You pays your money and takes your chances ...
