I am visiting Argentina in September 1999. Is it possible
to cross the Andes from Mendoza into Chlie heading for
Santiago. Will the worst of winter weather be over by then.
Many thanks...

Should be no problem. I've done it in August. Went from
Santiago to BA. The best bus ride I've ever had in Latin
America. Planes should be as comfortable. They even served
wine with dinner on the bus.

No problem at all! there are loads of buses each day & the
prices are pretty competitive. The road is only closed
during severe weather. It's an amazing trip.
