Hello everyone. I need some critical info on travel from
Lima to Cuzco and Machu Picchu. Can anyone tell me a
reliable price for bus/train/airplane fares to Cuzco from
Lima. Plus, I am going during the end of July, which is
apparently Peru's indepedence. Will prices be to high to
even consider visiting then? Can I do this trip in a week,
and what cost should I plan for(entire trip)?
Any help would be much appreciated-
Jared

The only way you could go Lima/Cusco and back in a week is to
fly. Probably won't find any real bargain fares but shouldn't
be excessivly jacked up. In Cusco expect hotels and
restaurants to raise prices..but still won't be a huge
problem as they are cheap to begin with. I wouldn't go to
Cusco that week without a room reserved. Better reserve your
plane ticket early. Reconfirm. Prices in LP Peru can be
guidelines. I only found hotel and food prices to be about 20
percent up. When they list rooms under $10 the raise isn't
much. Even if they double during Inti Raymi still not a
    budget breaker for a week.

  2. Cusco Flight Added by: Jack (jcalabash@aol.com)

Just returned from Cusco. The round-trip flight from Lima to Cusco on Aero Continente was $140. We booked from the states, maybe it's cheaper booking it there, I don't know. I would double check everything with them, though, and definately reconfirm all flights. We booked through their office in Miami and they failed to reserve a seat on the plane for one of us on both legs of the flight (to and from Cusco). My flight times kept changing as they cancelled and shuffled flights around. You might be better off during a busier time of year but be careful.

Carlos-- do you know specific names of travel companies that
provide these 250-500 tours from Lima. If so, can the be
    contacted from the states?
