Can anyone tell me what would be a reasonable daily budget
for a cycling trip in Japan. I have a tent, sleeping bag..
so I can camp.
Thanx

Hey buddy I felt so sorry for you that no one has responded.
I've gone to Hokkaido twice, 3 weeks each time, and always
spent about 13 man. This includes about 2 man total to get
from my Hokuriku home to Hokkaido, about 1 man on hotels (I
always treat myself to a couple of nights in Sapporo or
somewhere)and then basically the remaining 10 man on camp
sites (300 en a night if theyre not free), a good bath at
the onsen (200-1000 en a night) and a ton of FOOD! You'd be
surprised what an appetite you can work up biking all day.
On a bike trip I normally eat 4 full meals plus
countless snacks in the form of 7-11 onigiri, and I'm just a
tiny, normally anorexic girl. If youre going to be drinking
beer, or eating at nice-ish resturants (I go for that 100 en
revolving sushi), then double the food budget. Other than
that there are very few expenses. Of course you can always
make friends with family campers at the campsites, and then
just eat their food. Have a great time!
