where is the soul in seoul?

I am in Seoul for 10 days this summer, and hear that the
night life is a bit dull. Could anyone suggest where to go
in the evenings for some 'youth culture'! Any other
suggestions for Korea would be most welcome.

Shinch'on for the young 'n' funky.
I'taewon for US GI's, cheap beer and good tunes
    Have fun Simon!

  2. Try Taehangno Added by: Seoul Sonagi

also spelled Taehakro, Daehakro, Daehangno. The last
spelling best represents its pronunciation. It's northeast
of downtown and has a stop on the blue line. It's a good
mix of trendy youth culture and artsy stuff.

  3. Abkujung dong Added by: I know the places (afkjd;laj)

the good places are abkujung dong on the no 3 line. you
must walk to the main part of town from Galleria Dept store.
another good place is Hong Dae Ip ku, this is the area
around Hong Ik university and yon sei university so there is
plenty for the young and hip.
boy, i wish i were going back...

I was there for a few years, been to all the places on
these previous posts...my vote is Hong Dae Ip Ku. Hong Dae
University is an mostly an Art School, and the the bars and
dance clubs around there have a lot of character. Hell, if
Phoenix had a night life like Hong Dae I would be
exstatic! When I was last there, Golden Helmet was a fun
place to be. Basically, there are a ton of great spots
near Hong Dae. Go check 'em out!

Daehakno is great for looking and hanging at night, but can get pricey. Hongik Dae is also pretty cool. Just
get off the subway and start looking around; there are places in Korea to fit most people's ideas of nightlife
    fun.

  6. Dull Night life!?!?!?!?!? Added by: Lance

Whoever told you that Seoul night life is "dull", is a
    complete moron.
It has the better nightlife than ANYWHERE in America.
Shinchon, Daehakno, Hongdae....are the best. If you want
to go where there are no foreigners, look on the Seoul
subway map, find a stop which has a university, and there
will be tons of bars all around the main gate, very simple.
Man, I wish I was back there!
    Have fun!
