Japan visa

First question: What kind of visa requirements are needed
for a Canadian who wants to visit Japan for 12 days. A
simple stamp at the port of call? A 3-hour grilling?
Also:
I'm planning to travel on the island of Kyushu during those
12 days. Any must-sees?

You'll need your passport and yourself. You might also need to show that you have a return
ticket within 90 days, but that's solely at the discretion of Immigration. As to where to go,
you don't say how you'll be going around......if you get a JR Rail Pass _before_ you come you can
go most anywhere on the island. See the post 27 messages down on what to do in Fukuoka.
As for other places, for castles Kumamoto-jo, and Karatsu-jo (Saga-ken) are the best.
Nagasaki is nice for its history, Sakurajima in Kagoshima is like walking on the moon next to a
live volcano......there is also Yufuin in Oita for a nice onsen (hot spring) and microbrewery, Mt.
Aso in Kumamoto is gorgeous.... you name it. What do you want to see??

takachiho is a real must see. fantastic! it is where the
gods who created japan in traditional myth lived, made
japan, planned their creation, etc etc. and lovely onsen,
plus traditional yokagura (?) dancing. really great. and
the youth hostel was one of the friendliest i stayed in.
free bike rental too. beautiful gorge as well. take lots
    of film.
it is an absolute pain in the ass to get to, but really
    worth it 100%. have fun!
