Jazz or Alternative in Taipei ? Where ?

Can anybody tell me if there are any places (apart from Roxy and 45) in Taipei where they play good music
(anywhere from U2, Pearl Jam, Counting Crows, Nirvana, etc. to Rush, Marillion or even Metallica, etc.) ?
And what about good jazz clubs ? Thanks in advance for your reactions.

the end of SHi Da Road. Has great Jazz.

I've been here around 5 years now. Long, but not too long
    indeed ;)
Somebody told me the Blue Note sucked. Anyway, I'll check it
    out anyway. Tks.

I'd say Underworld (Di Xia She Hui) on Shida Rd., next to
Watson's, has the best collection of decent alternative and
DJs who know what they're doing. Exceptions are some
Wednesday nights when they sometimes have an 80s revival
    block which is quite horrible.
Best live alternative is Roxy Vibe, on the corner of Jinshan
    S. Rd., and Aiguo E., across the street from the gas
station. Only on Friday and Saturday, though.

  5. try DV8 Added by: rm

Haven't been in Taipei in 2 years, but when I was there my
favorite place was DV8. It's a little bar a couple of
blocks off of Roosevelt Rd. In the area between Hsin Yi
Rd. and Ho Ping Rd. There's a free pool table and darts in
the basement. Not really a dancing place, just a place to
unwind and hang out. At the time I was there, they played
great music - usually not heavy stuff, though, if that's
what you're looking for, but a good eclectic mix. They do
have a great assortment of jazz and alternative, as well as
some good old stuff like the dead and neil young. Also, I
thought the Blue Note was a pretty good place, even got to
sit in one night on a jam session. Hope this helps...ask
around about DV8. Go there at least once to try it, if it's
    still open.
