Hi, i'm going to be visiting Toronto in June, and would like
to know if anyone can recommend any lakes worth visiting
around there.
Thanks, The Pom

The best lakes in Ontario are in a provincial parkcalled
Algonquin, it is about 2.5 hours out of Toronto.

You don't have to go to Algonquin -- Muskoka's really nice
and you may get a glimpse of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
(they own a house out here along with a handful of other
celebs). Georgian Bay is gorgeous as well.

From Toronto travel east along Lake Ontario to Kingston.
You can see the beautiful Thousand Islands...and end your
trip in Kingston during the Regatta. I think it's in
    August.

I agree that Algonquin Provincial Park offers the best lake country for Toronto. However, if you want easy access, take the Moose Bus from Toronto to Ottawa. The Ottawa turn-around point is Carman Trails, a Hostelling Int'l (YHA)
    e-mail : carman@magma.ca or phone (819) 459 3180
From Carman Trails you can walk to Brown Lake or Carman Lake or Lake Philippe or Taylor lake or Lake La Peche. You can hire a canoe from Carman Trails and paddle from Carman to Brown Lake. Rob, the owner of Carman Trails can arrange for you to go white-water rafting on the Ottawa River - that is exciting. After some days at Carman Trails enjoying the folk music, scenery, good company from all over the world (maybe even from Liverpool) you can get back on the Moose Bus and go on to Montreal or Quebec City or back to Toronto. Enjoy

  5. Lake Near Toronto Added by: Winnie

It may be a little obvious but Toronto is on a lake - Lake
Ontario (one of the Great Lakes) so you don't have to go
anywhere from Toronto for a lake but I live 100 miles
(approx. 160 km) from Toronto on Georgian Bay (part of Lake
Huron - another Great Lake). This is a truly recreational
area with thousands of islands. Not far from here - 1/2
hour drive further north is the Muskoka Region - full of
small lakes and the oldest rock on earth. Very picturesque
    - movie stars really do come to this area as they do
Georgian Bay. I live in Midland, a very historical area
with beaches, historial sites and boating nearby. In the
area are First Nations Reservations and sites of natives and
the first settlers. Actually just come to Toronto - a
fantastic city - and head north or east. Personal
preference for me is north both sure you will enjoy either.
