a walk, change from the conference !
Thanks

How about a nice refreshing Big Mac at Macdonald's. Yum!
Yum! Just like at home.
After that, I'd suggest a short walk back to the hotel
making sure that you don't get mugged on the way. Now that
would be a change from the conference, don't you think?
Enjoy!
I can't answer your question, but there are a couple of
'regulars' from Minneapolis over on the Your Choice branch
of the Thorn Tree, so you could ask your question there
too. (There is also a bunch of petty-minded idiots who
delight in flaming people too, so don't take them seriously
if it happens. They're just boors.)
and I've visited there a few times since. One of my all-
time favorite Italian restaurants is in St. Paul.
Ristorante Lucci (not sure of the spelling) - check it out.
You probably have to make reservations.
Other good places include an Ethiopian restaurant on the
west bank (that's an area in Minneapolis) called Opaa.
D'Amico Brothers is a deli-type place that has a lot of
different locations.
As far as walking & seeing things, check out the Sculpture
Gardens (ask your hotel staff, they'll be able to tell you
where it is.) It's an outdoor area, next to several parks,
with some really neat sculptures. Also nice are the many
lakes in the city.
The downtown area has a nice pedestrian mall, definitely a
fun place to shop. Last time I was there there were open
air markets at certain times - very fun to check out.
Hope this helps!
I think the name of the Ethiopian place is Odaa. Something
like that, at least!
The Sculpture Garden is a nice place -- I agree on that with the poster above.
If you want to go out to the southern suburbs (Bloomington), there is Kincaid's restaurant overlooking a small man-made lake, Lake Normandale. After dinner you can walk around the lake, which has a 1.5 mile walking path around it. Geese, mallard ducks and egrets nest on the lake and are usually easy to spot from the paths.
There is plenty to do around here depending on your
interests. If you'd like to e-mail me with an idea of your
specific interests, I'd be happy to help you find something
to do.
