Cheap travel to the San Juans

I've been trying to find a relatively cheap way to get to
the Friday Harbour from Seattle in a morning. I have 2 days
to get from Seattle to Vancouver in order to fly out, but I
wanted to go to San Juan Island on the way to do some
kayaking. Am I wasting my time trying to organise something
impossible or is an expensive sea plane the only way?
Thanks to anyone that can help.

You don't really have enough time; you have difficulties
managing the travel alone in two days. Does it have to be
kayaking in the San Juans? Perhaps consider a trip closer
to Vancouver........a short ferry ride can get you to
Gibson's .....lots of little islands to play on around
    there.

Have you contacted the co. that operates boats from Seattle
to Victoria, some via Fri. Harbor? If not, call 800 888
2535. I think it is Clipper Navigation, or Victoria
Clipper. Also, from Seattle there is direct bus service to
the Wash. State Ferry at Anacortes (I think this bus
service is operated by Gray Line). Find out the schedules
to see if you can fit this in two days.

You should be able to ferry from the Seattle area ( a little
ways North - Anacortes) to the San Juans then to Sidney
(Vanc. Isl.)and on to Vancouver. Never done it in 2 days but
    here's the urls..
    Washington State Ferries:http://victoriabc.com/page2.htm
If you email them they can probably tell you excatly how to
go about dong what you want to do.
    BC ferries: www.bcferries.ca
Another option would be to take the ferry to Victoria, then
go through the San Juans to Anacortes and then drive to
    Vancouver.
This next site has links to all the transportation providers
of Victoria ( ferry & air), Coho, Maggie II, Clipper,
    Washington S. Ferries, etc.
