    any day!

martha's vineyard is a lovely spot with really nice beaches
and tons of real-america small towns in driving distance.
its a more upscale getaway than a theme park - less
screaming kids, more interesting people and parties.
pick martha's vineyard - you will have a much more
interesting place and much more interesting people.

for all the reasons Claire said and then some.

because it's beautiful and who wants to work at a theme
    park?

  5. Richmond Added by: Kickstart

Working on Martha's Island will be like working on a ship: you can't get off after you finish your day. If you are in Richmond you will be able to move around on public transport. Washington, DC, for example, is 100 miles away. 12 weeks on Martha's Island sonds like some type of penal servitude sentence (I find you guilty as charged and sentence you to twelve weks of sweated labor serving fussy peope who are richer than average but not as rich as they would like everyone, including you, to beleive).

  6. Beware of Summer! Added by: larry

#5's response is well worth considering. For me, the idea of
waiting on people at a silly theme park reeking of candy and
soda is even worse than worse than waiting on people who
have more money than you. (But here's a surprise: poor and
middle class people can be plenty obnoxious too!) Martha's
Vineyard is a more interesting place and has a classier
crowd (despite the Kennedys!). Depends on how you feel about
being away from city glitz. Again, for me, it's no contest.
The clincher is Richmond in the summer: hot and steamy! You
    live in air conditioning!

  8. NC & MV You can't go wrong Added by: native VA (kek22@columbia.edu)

The question is whether you'd like to see the Southeast or
Northeast, both areas of US have great things to offer. I
know that theme park in Richmond and you are glad you are
not working there! What is the other job in NC? If it is
similar to Richmond, go with MV. You can check out all of
New England. But if the job seems more decent - and maybe
you'll have more time, go with NC. There's the
Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill, the beachs, etc. How old
are you? If you are under 21 and like to drink alcohol - I
believe MA state laws on ID'ing are very tough!

NC is very nice, but i'd give a slight edge to the vineyard.

  10. Marthe's Vineyard, of course! Added by: Lee
[Timestamp: Thu 20 May, 13:34 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Go to the Northeast! Being from this part of the country I
may be a little biased, but it's a great area. You'll
probably be able to make trips to Boston and NY-two places I
definetly reccomend!! And the south is definitely too hot
    and humid!
Just a note--As someone mentioned, Massachusetts (at least
Boston, where I go to school) is very tough on id's (in the
case you are under 21.) This can make going out difficult
-bars are all 21+, the good clubs are as well. You could
always borrow a 21+ friend's id for the summer or get a fake
    if you want....
    Have fun!
