five reasons to take a tour

Here are the top five reasons to take a tour rather than
travel independently:
5. You don't have to handle the local money, which is often
covered with foreign germs. An exception is Lebanon, where
they take real money (dollars).
4. If you don't know Arabic, naturally you must take a tour
3. You don't have to interact with the locals, who are all
camel jockeys out to steal from you and give you fleas
2. You can see Baalbek, Palmyra and Jerusalem the same day!
And.... the number 1 reason is:
1. Independent travellers have to stay at cheap hotels; all
nice hotels are reserved for tour groups.

this is a joke, isn't it? Man, I don't even want to think
of the consequences if it isn't. That would make you
sadder than I already think you are

  2. Honestly... Added by: Jo (kiwi_josee@yahoo.com)

Not everybody is a happy independent traveller. Especially with Middle East countries. I travel independently, but I do respect some peoples fear of the unknown, and desire to do tours. Many woman on their own opt for tours to improve their safety - and if its between that and not going, what would you chooses? Not every tour is as you say - have you ever actually done a tour? I am surprised to think that a person with such narrow views has even left their own country. Get a life and a personality.

americans! how can they be so small minded? People like Saul
shouldn't be allowed to travel. i hope he gets bed bugs from
staying at home with his mummy

Why not rent a video (with the remote covered in plastic) ?

Why must you be so unbelieveably ignorant of the amazing
cultures that are around you? You need to get out more. I'm
sorry to see that you haven't seen the Middle East for what
it really is. Poor pathetic bastard.

Nice one, Saul. Amazing the number of people who claim to
be great travellers who don't seem to have developed a
    sense of humour en route...

    That's hilarious!
Sounds like people don't like you stirring the pot!
I like the foreign germs bit!

Mariam especially has no sense of humor. That's because
she's religious, and religious people take everything at
face value. She probably thinks that the Thorn Tree, like
the Koran, is all literal truth.

Your impression of me couldn't be anymore innaccurate.

  11. 3 more reasons Added by: Vampira

3 More reasons to take a tour:
-It can be difficult to find the local Mc Donalds alone. The tour guide can help you.
-When travelling you are supposed to look at churches and museums and stuff and after a while they can become kinda boring. It's nice to be surrounded by 30 people just like you so you can always find someone who wants to talk about football.
-In foreign countries there are so many things to buy that you don't know where to begin and the guide books say that the merchants will try to cheat you. Fortunately the local guide is often willing to take your group to a carpet shop that is owned by his uncle. He is the only honest carpet dealer in town! What a coincidence!

    Love your sense of humour........

  13. One more reason Added by: ROB

The top reason why Sual & Co should take a tour is . . . .
So Indie travellers can see at watch them videoing
everything and looking for their guide to show them the
    gift shop . . .
It's all part of the entertainment!

  14. Satire Added by: Mark Hunt (mhunt@wiley.co.uk)

Hasn't anyone ever heard of this? It's a great site in the
desert in Syria. It takes only sixty hours to get there by
bus and costs $1 each way. There's a great bit of rubble
covered in sand and down the road is a five star Movenpick
with some poorly payed arabs in trad dress. It's a must
see. They're building a skate park there next year and a
Macdonalds 'Arab theme' Restaurant. It'll be completelt
    rad. Do you skate?

  15. I'm glad Added by: Peter (peter@procoustic.com.au)

Wow, Miriam - a bit rabid my dear. I'm sure there is room
for his ME and yours, if not, you can just have him locked
    up. Who cares?
